Need A Fun Party Theme? Host A Luau
For those assigned the challenge of hosting a party, a big corporate event or even a wedding reception, it can be difficult to find a theme that the majority of guests will enjoy. A luau or Hawaiian party, however, can be fun for everyone and it is equally fun to plan. Here are some suggestions.
For those assigned the challenge of hosting a party, a big corporate event or even a wedding reception, it can be difficult to find a theme that the majority of guests will enjoy. A luau or Hawaiian party, however, can be fun for everyone and it is equally fun to plan. Here are some suggestions.
Request that guests dress in the party theme. They can stick with simple items such as shorts, Hawaiian shirts and sandals or go all out and wear grass skirts. Be sure to pass out flowers leis as guests arrive. There are many artificial leis on the market, but the LED light-up leis available from online stores, including LightGod.com, can really add a special glow to your party.
In fact, there are many LED products that are a perfect match for a luau. Consider passing out blinking, flashing pins in a tropical theme. There are light-up pins in the shape of palm trees and Hawaiian shirts, as well as blinking pins that say “Hawaii,” or “Aloha.” You could also pass out necklaces with Hawaiian-themed, LED pendants. Serve cocktails and drinks in light-up LED glasses. You can even find light-up champagne flutes and hurricane glasses with palm leaves and palm trees.
Consider decorating the room with LED string lights and LED tiki lights. LED light-up tiki torches are another great idea, and you can also find LED candles in a variety of styles. These LED items not only had a huge sparkle to your party, they are far safer than traditional candles and torches.
For your food choices, definitely stick with tropical treats. You will want a dessert buffet featuring plenty of pineapple and other tropical fruits, and perhaps coconut bars or coconut cake and pineapple upside down cake. Your dinner buffet can include rice, macaroni salad, pulled pork, sliced ham, crispy fried shrimp, teriyaki chicken or fish kabobs and even poi, which can be shipped in from the islands. To make it more affordable, serve a tropical rum punch as your main cocktail.
Your party wouldn’t be complete without plenty of luau-themed entertainment. Set up an area where guests can practice their hula dancing skills. Consider hiring a hula instructor to give a quick lesson. You could also opt for silly party games, such as a hula hoop contest or a limbo event. Children will be sure to love playing bingo using luau and Hawaiian themed words or even playing knocking down plastic pineapples during a game of coconut island bowling.
